The Black Striped Pipefish is a close relative of the seahorses. The head is almost identicle and except for being stretched out unlike the seahorses, the body scales seem to be the same.
Sometimes you have to really look hard if you want to see the small critters. Arrow crabs like to hide in the sponges and crevices This baby filefish is only an inch long and was hanging out under a ledge at 80 feet. He was hard to spot in all the filaments around him.

Most divers don’t get the chance to see a juvenile Lionfish. When very young they are transluscent and you can see right through them. This one is just coming out of that stage and developing some color.
