The diving vacationer has so many choices when it comes to diving from the dolphin experience at Anthony’s Key Resort, shark diving at Waihuka, the quiet seclusion of Fantasy Island Resort, and the solitude of Coco View. Well known by divers for years, they each have a unique experience which keeps divers coming back.
Remember, since The Divers’ Net receives no remuneration or compenstaion from the resorts we review (We pay full retail just like you and remain anonymous.), we don’t exaggerate or resort to cute stories about our trips. We have nobody to please but you our readers. The whole idea is to ‘tell it like it is’, not to embellish with flamboyent hyperbole - well, I had to put it in somewhere! We also believe the old adage that a picture is worth a 1000 words - so you will find a lot of 1000 word breaks in the narrative.
CoCo View has expanded greatly since our last visit having added on several new buildings. While this is a nice addition to the facility, they took away the view of the beach from the rooms. Conversely they also added over - the -water bungalos for those who just gotta have the water view. Unless things have changed recently, leave your spears and spearguns at home. They don’t allow soeaaring of any kind when all he other resorts i am acquainted with not only do but encourage the spearing of the invasive lionfish which has decimated native species wherever they have become established - and Roatan is one of the more seriously affected areas along with St. Kitts.
One of the nicest resorts on Roatan has been Fantasy Islandwhich had become sadly quite rundown. The rooms were shabby and the food quality and variety had become very poor. New ownership and a serious remodel of both the dive shop and the entire resort has put it back up to a seriously pleasant place to stay. unfortunately, all this came with a price as it is also now probably the most expensive dive resort on the island. If you can afford it, it’s really a great place to stay. It lies across a small inlet from Coco View and shares the same access to the Prince Albert.
