2000 feet!

Once we got to 2000’, Karl drove over to the wall which is fairly vertical and, as you would expect, devoid of much life. However, it doesn’t take Karl long to find the ‘folks’ that live down here. I think he recognizes every rock around and never seems to have any doubt about where he is.

Celebrating 2000’

Many of the critters down deep never see light and have no need for color. Many are transluscent.

The Sea Lily is one of the most unusual animals you’ll see. It is the only animal of it’s type that is a predator and actually ‘chases’ it’s food on what appears as roots in these pics. Around the 400 foot level you’ll see two other unusual sights. First is a band of ancient fossilized coral left over from the last ice age when the sea level was 400 feet shallower. The other is a set of dive gear complete with tank, regulator, BC, and weights. This marks the final resting spot of a diver who committed suicide by diving down till he ran out of air.
