St. Kitts

St. Kitts and it’s sister island Nevis are within (a long) swimming distance of each other. This proved to be one of the more expensive islands of the Caribbean but certainly worth it. The reefs are not towering monoliths of coral but pretty and varied. St. Kitts has the largest population of Lionfish of any place I’ve visited. You are encouraged to spear them and will be loaned a spear if you ask. One diver speared 21 on a single dive. Fortunately, they are absolutely delicious as well. Also, there are many wrecks to explore which have become habitats for LOTS of lobsters. You’re allowed to take them but no females with eggs, so hand catching is mandatory. I found an abandoned bulldozer that had at least 50 lobsters hiding down in the treads and undercarriage.
