Cypress Gardens is one of the favorite sites on the Ambergris Cay reef. The differences now compared to just eight years ago in the healthiness of the reef is amazing. Just eight years ago on my last trip to Ambergris the reefs in these pictures would have been bleached out and seemingly dead. It was necessary to dive below 60 feet just to find healthy coral but now there are only small patches of the former damage. Eight years ago I wouild have advised divers to avoid the coastal reefs and stay offshore but not so today. The reefs are healthy and teeming with life. This has become a splendid reef for all skill levels of divers. It’s shallow (40 - 90 feet) with plenty to see.
