The main attraction to Maya Princess is the large congregation of nurse sharks. We would often have 15 to 20 around us at once but never failed to have at least one swimming with us. They are very curious creatures and obviously quite used to divers sometimes almost bumping into us. They tended to stay shallower in the 40 to 50 foot depths which you can see are quite healthy with growth. I really congratulate the Belizean government in the rather amazing turnaround they’ve achieved in such a short time. It just shows with a little care the reefs can heal.
