Zin Ha

Zin Ha is a newly opened cenote in Puerto Morales. It is another pit style dive like Angelita and about 90 feet deep in the main area. The main attraction of Zin Ha is the evidence of a former reef at the 22 foot level with masses of fossilized clams embedded in the walls. The layer of clams is as much as five feet thick in places and densely packed.

Access is down a very steep set of steps to the surface 15 feet below. There is a platform at the surface to finish gearing up and nas usual this is shared with a lot of swimmers. The cenote itself is fairly straightforward in that it is also more of a pit with formations on the sides and under the overhang.

At 22 feet you reach the old seabed filled with fossilized mussels. They are quite tightly packed and range from 3 to 5 inches across.

Other areas of the walls have formations which look like they were squeezed out of a pastry bag.

While there are not a lot of massive formations here there are a few down at the 90 foot level.
