Buddy Dive Resort is probably one of the best run dive resorts in the Caribbean. The entire resort and staff seems designed and dedicated to the visiting divers having the best experience possible. There are plenty of restaurants available and many are quite good with any quisine you might want. However, if you happen to not want to go out some nights or just crave some of your own fabulous cookery, each room has a full kitchen. Our group has developed a tradition over many dive trips of getting together and having a group cookout. This was no exception. We obtained fresh fish from a local fisherman, and there are plenty of good stores for groceries. It’s a great time to share recipes, lies, and beer.

The grounds and area around the docks are kept immaculate and are well landscaped. The rooms are well appointed and quite large by any resort standards, each having a separate bedroom, bath, and commingled kitchen/ living or sitting room. Buddy is right on the water just opposite Klein Bonaire and has excellent diving right off their dock as the reef/ dropoff is just a few yards out from the dock. They have an easy access step for divers on the dock next to the very well equipped dive shop. Their boats are kept clean and well equipped as well. Buddy has another unique feature for divers which is seldom seen elewhere. Each room comes with a pickup truck which serves as your dive transportation during your stay since most diving is shore oriented. When you are ready to go diving, there is a drive through where you simply drive up and grab the tanks you need - including nitrox. When your dive is over, you just drop them off the same way and go on your way.

I don’t usually get too excited about resort staff, but this crew deserves credit for their efforts and attitude. Everyone from maids to maintainance to management is obviously dedicated to insuring your stay is the best they can make it - and they do!
