Barbados Critters

Barbados has no shortage of critters to see. Everything is very alive and healthy - yet another reason to make the trip. Also, as with the wrecks, the best areas with the most life are also reasonably shallow. Most are within the 40 to 80 foot range.

The snake eel is rarely seen and the only other one I have found was in Dominica. They run 3 t0 4 feet long and bury themselves in the sand with only the head sticking out to wait for prey to pass by. Uniquely, they burrow into the sand tail first working their body down till only the head remains out.
